Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) At Home Test Kits
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) At Home Test Kits
STDs are called sexually transmitted diseases, which means they are most commonly spread through sexual intercourse. These are contagious diseases, and there are around 20 million reports annually. Some STDs can be cured, and some cannot be cured like HIV. Bacterial STDs includes chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, and viral STDs, including HIV, hepatitis B, and herpes (HSV-1 & HSV-2). HIV and herpes are persistent diseases which can only be managed, unfortunately, there is no cure.
Similarly, hepatitis B may also become chronic and incurable. On the other hand, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are initial infections that can transform into diseases after a certain time. STIs are infections that spread through sexual contact, which occurs when a bacteria or virus enters the body and starts to grow, which may turn into a disease. There are several differences between the two terms i.e., most importantly, there is a difference between a disease and an infection. Secondly, STDs begin as STIs, and then bacteria or viruses slowly multiply, causing the infection to transform into a disease. Another significant difference between the two is that STD is at a later stage of STI, which may show some symptoms, whereas, in STI, there are many cases which shows no symptoms.
STD/STI at Home Test Kit
There are STD/STI home test kits that check for indications of different infections. There are four test options: simple 2, basic 3, Standard 5, and complete 10. There is also a separate test for hepatitis B and C.
Simple 2 at Home Test Kit
The Simple 2 STD/STI at home test allows for the detection of two common STIs: chlamydia and gonorrhoea. These two can be symptomless, and the best way to diagnose them is through a test.
Basic 3 at Home Test Kit
The Basic 3 STD/STI at home test involves testing for an infection called trichomoniasis, which is another STD transmitted through sexual contact, and most commonly asymptomatic.
Standard 5 at Home Test Kit
The Standard 5 STD/STI at home test includes two more diseases, which are HIV and syphilis. Human immune deficiency virus (HIV) is a virus that passes through during sexual contact, and is a chronic disease that can later transform into AIDs if left untreated. Syphilis is a bacterial infection, similar to herpes, that can cause harm to the organs if left untreated.

It’s relatively simple to take the tests and receive the results, but it is equally important to know about these diseases and their symptoms. Chlamydia is an asymptomatic infection caused by a bacterium, and it is contracted by sexual contact. Gonorrhoea is another basic infection caused by sexual contact, and it causes a yellowish discharge in men, and it’s asymptomatic in women. Trichomoniasis is another STI, and it often shows green discharge in men and women. It’s vital to detect them early because, in the long term, it may cause infertility in men and women by destroying reproductive tubes as well as pelvic pain and pelvic inflammatory diseases. HIV is another common STI, and it’s transmitted through unprotected sex. It attacks immune cells and can later transform into AIDs. It’s an incurable disease, and it is essential to get tested for it since it is easily transferable to your partners.
Furthermore, Syphilis is a bacterial infection caused by sexual contact. Getting tested is necessary because it can damage the brain, liver, and blood vessels. Herpes-type 1 and 2 is another virus which is incurable. HSV-1 is transmitted through the sharing of things and causes sores around the mouth, and HSV-2 is transmitted through sexual contact. HSV can become inactive, and a further blood test is required to locate an inactive virus. Ureaplasma and mycoplasma are bacteria found around the unitary wall, and they can cause pain during sex and discomfort. Gardner Ella develops as a result of bacteria around the vagina, which causes unusual vaginal discharge and odour. Hepatitis B and C and blood-borne diseases and hepatitis B can severely damage the liver and may even lead to liver failure. It’s a chronic disease, and it is not curable, but it can be prevented by a vaccine, whereas hepatitis C is a less common disease, and is asymptomatic. These diseases are typically transmitted when a person has sexual intercourse with an infected person. HSV-2, HIV, and hepatitis B are severe diseases, and they are incurable. They can be managed and sometimes prevented so it is vital to get tested to avoid transferring it to partners. Painful urination, pain during sexual contact, rashes, or itching around the genitals and change in colour of discharge are symptoms of STIs, and they should be tested as soon as possible.
